Whispers in the Dark
by: Frizz on Friday the 12th of May 2006

First off - all spaces in names have been removed (Note: Faction names can still have spaces in them). If you had a space in your name, it has been replaced with an underscore "_" ... the reason for this is: You can now whisper to players in-game. To do this, simply type the following into the chat box:

/w PLAYERNAME Then type the message you want to send them.

You must enter the player's name correctly (case-sensitive) when you whisper to them. If you successfully whisper to a player, you will see it in your chat box. Whispers appear regardless of what chat-mode you are in (All, Trade, Faction, Planet, etc.) so a player will always see the whispers they send and receive.

Combat Tweaks
by: Frizz on Wednesday the 10th of May 2006

Weapons firing outside their optimal ranges will now receive additional penalities to-hit. You should see a lot more misses if you're using Energy weapons above their stated Range or Missile weapons below their stated Range. To compensate, these weapons now receive a bonus to-hit if their target is inside their Optimal Range (a message will appear in the Results Panel of the map stating a bonus has been given for "Optimal Range"). Ballistic weapons are un-affected by this update.

Example: A unit has a Range 3 Missile weapon and a Range 3 Energy weapon targets a vehicle 5 spaces away. The Missile weapon receives a bonus to hit this target, the Energy weapon receives a large penality. The unit then targets another vehicle 2 spaces away, the Missile weapon now receives a large penality to-hit and the Energy weapon receives a bonus.

Also, the Calypso Prism has had its damage bonus reduced to +2 (was +4).

Clean-up, Aisle 6!
by: Frizz on Thursday the 04th of May 2006

Quick update today involving some market-cleanup: Vehicles, crews, mods and buildings that are not sold on the Black Market after three weeks will now be removed from the market and returned to their owners.

Stats ... STATS!
by: Frizz on Sunday the 30th of April 2006

You can now view the Shields and Armor for all your vehicles while you are deployed. The quick-stats panel can be activated from the window that displays Experience and Command Point information. Also, you can click on a vehicle from this window to automatically jump to it on the map. This should make it much easier to control multiple units while in combat.

Recycling!
by: Frizz on Friday the 28th of April 2006

Players who choose to focus on combat have a new way to collect ore. Two new commands have been added to Basic Salvage: Field Recycling and Advanced Recycling ... these commands can be used to gather ore from destroyed units (the command must be issued to a unit that can mine / salvage). Also, these Commands cost no Command Points to issue! However, they do have high Level Point costs (if you choose to purchase them for your commander). Note: Recycling a destroyed unit in the field will not give as much ore as Scrapping it from your Headquarters.

Lastly, Faction Planets now show the amount of faction points gathered for deployed and undeployed factions.

Merit Tweaks
by: Frizz on Tuesday the 25th of April 2006

A balance pass has been made on Crew Merits. Certain Merits have been improved to make them more in-line with other Crew Merits. The following Merits have been changed:
* Steady Hand - Crew's unit receives +4 Controlled Movement
* Beserker - Crew does +2 damage with all attacks
* Packrat - Crew's unit receives +5 Ammo

Also ... planet Esika has mysteriously replaced planet Vlandi.

Updated Shared Slots for Factions!
by: Frizz on Saturday the 22nd of April 2006

Shared slots which factions can purchase with Faction Points have been updated and improved! Factions can now place Intermediate or Advanced construx in shared slots. Construx in these slots are build-able by anyone in the faction. The cost for Simple, Intermediate, and Advanced shared slots is:

Simple - 50 Faction Points
Intermediate - 200 Faction Points
Advanced - 500 Faction Points

Once purchased a Shared Slot is active for 30 days. Also, spending Faction Points does not decrease a faction's rank on the "Top Factions" list, ie. a faction will not go down in ranking by spending their faction points.

Shared Slots are slots for construx that are created by faction admins. They allow a faction to share a construx with all its members. For example, if a faction has a High Tower Mod construx, and creates a shared slot for it, everyone in the faction can then build that mod.

Firefox Support has Arrived!
by: Frizz on Thursday the 20th of April 2006

Firefox support has finally arrived! A few kinks are still being worked out (especially on Mac and Linux machines), but you should now be able to play Tinywarz using Firefox. Please post any problems you encounter to the Bugs area of the forum. A special call-out to users with Mac or Linux machines - additional testing is still needed on these platforms!
